BRIEF HISTORY OF THE CHURCH

Christian Growth Church started in 9^th June, 2002 with fifteen (15) members which has now grown tremendously through a series of prophetic messages and Dreams given to Pastor Frank Ato Odoom from God the founding father and later confirmed by other Ministers of the Gospel in Sekondi – Takoradi, and through the scripture: ACT 26:16-18

Now get up and stand on your feet . I have appeared to you to appoint you as a servant and as a witnessed of what you have seen on me and what I will show you. I will rescue you from your own people and from the Gentiles. I am sending you to them, to open their eyes and turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, so that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in me.

Through prayer and fasting, Pastor Ato Odoom obeyed the call of God. He imagined how difficult it would be leaving the world to follow God, but, the Lord gave him a quotation in the scripture of Revelation 2:10 which is the rock on which the church stands. It reads;

Do not be afraid of what you are about to suffer. I tell you the devil will put some of you in prison to test you, and you will suffer persecution for (ten days)*. Be faithful, even to the point of death and I will give you THE CROWN OF LIFE.

Based on this, he undertook some Training Courses; Sewer’s course, Dr. Morris Cello school of Ministries. And others in 1992. He then enrolled in Living Word Bible Institute and obtained a Diploma in Theology in 1993.  He then started Christian Growth Ministries (C.G.M) which has blessed enormous people, drunkards, drug addicts, and many Souls and Marriages have been saved and blessed. They met once a week for Fellowship, He saw that he has a gift of Counseling, so he sat up an Office which offer free counseling to Pastors and the General Public on Tuesdays.

In addition, He has an Outreach team who spread the Gospel outside the Church. Many of the Outreach Members are now Pastors and Evangelists. He operates in the Spirit of Discernment and Word of knowledge. He is the Chairman of the Sekondi – Takoradi Ministers Network and in charge of transportation. He is blessed with a beautiful wife Mrs. Eva Odoom who is the head of the Women’s Ministry. He has three children; two females and a male (Francisca, Lydia and Kelvin respectively). He is one of a life member of the Full Gospel Business Men’s Fellowship International (F.G.B.M.F.I) Takoradi branch. He is a member of Gospel Crusade Ministerial Fellowship of Florida U.S.A, co-ordinator of the Western Region Ghana Branch. He is also an Ordained Minister of United Christian Church and Ministerial Association, U.S.A Tenesse and the Managing Director of At Last Electrical Company.  He is a Pastor who does not receive pay from the church but yet invest and contribute a lot to the Ministry and the church. He is really a Man of God.

In all these, the Ministry was successful for Eight (8) years, until 9^th June, 2002 the Holy Ghost led him to add what is now called CHRISTIAN GROWTH CHURCH. It is undoubtedly said there are many churches in the Nation but the Bible urges us to seek the church in which the presence of the Almighty really exist and where your spirit tastes for. This Church CHRISTIAN GROWTH CHURCH is really having the presence of the almighty. Many Ministers who have witnessed this church have confessed this. Meet this humble Man of God and you will surely be blessed by His words (through the word of God). A miracle example to show this is that: there has never been failure or disturbance of rain since ten (10) years of Service even in the raining when there is a church activity or program.

 In 2003, he added a prayer ministry called Time With God under the ministry which is well attended by all assundry. He has an existing small church Auditorium and looks for sponsors to buy 50acres of land to build a bigger sanctuary and a Bible School.

God has really blessed and is blessing the church. It now two (2) years as at 9^th June, 2004 and the Fellowship ten (10) years and will stand and reign forever and ever.

The Motto being “WALK WITH GOD, GROW WITH GOD” is an assurance that anyone who faithfully and obediently walk with God, surely grow with God.
